Native Lands - Much of the land in the four corners area is home to the native inhabitants of our continent, and should be respected as private property. The Navajo tribe issues permits to those who wish to hike on their lands. These can be obtained at chapter houses throughout the reservation. Other sites of interest, such as Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Navajo National Monument, Antelope Canyon, and Havasupai are managed as tribal parks much like our national park system. Archeological sites not in tribal parks ( petroglyphs/pictographs and ruins) should never be visited unless you are with a native guide.
